Hi, I'm Chad.

If you're interested in seeing my production work for GameStop and Chewy, please reach out to me directly via email at chadcoopercreative@gmail.com or by messaging me on LinkedIn

A little about me, I create scalable design systems and compelling user experiences via a variety of mediums. I am always looking to discover new approaches to solve complex problems in a meaningful and accessible manner. I currently am a Principal Product Designer at GameStop and an Adjunct Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology College of Art and Design where I teach design system intensive courses to graduate and undergraduate students.

At GameStop, I am leading major restorative efforts to preserve the future of the beloved company. I have worked to fully redesign the entire e-commerce core shopping experience. Additionally I work on discovering and solving friction points in our brick-and-mortar locations for our store associates and customers. As one of the leaders on the Digital Product Design team, I meet weekly with our VP of Design strategize and plan our long-term and short-term goals as a design organization and as a broader company. My work at GameStop also includes leading the HUD System which I started from scratch, contributing to our mobile apps and mentoring up-and-coming designers. I also frequently present to the C-Suite and Board of Directors.

Previously at Chewy, I solved high visibility organization friction points and accessibility nightmares by building the Chirp Design System. I also built out memorable customer experiences by rethinking our Native Mobile App core screens and our Pet Profile experience. I also maintained the Advocate Program, an initiative I started to promote design thinking and processes across our Chewy tech, product and design organizations. Weekly I hosted Figma Office Hours where I would train team members on Figma Best Practices and how to use its features. I also a mentored several designers and a developer, we met individually on a weekly basis.

Before Chewy, I worked with RIT Student Auxiliary Services to design and develop an augmented reality app for current and prospective RIT students. While there, I also crafted a virtual reality experience for RIT Hockey fans to be immersed in during games at the arena.

I received my Masters of Fine Arts in Visual Communication Design at the Rochester Institute of Technology(RIT) in May 2019. My graduate thesis was highlighted the annual RIT Graduate Showcase event. I was also a demonstrator during two Imagine RIT events, an annual event that routinely attracts over 30,000 members of the Rochester area.

At the University at Buffalo, I received my Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University at Buffalo (SUNY). I freelanced multiple design projects for the UB Athletics Department and UB Alumni Association.

I’m also an experienced event photographer having worked for the University at Buffalo(UB), UB Athletics Department, the UB Center for the Arts and several non-profits. I have photographed several NCAA March Madness Tournaments for the University at Buffalo and Syracuse University, and have photographed many distinguished talents ranging from political leaders to Grammy Award-Winning Recording Artists. In 2014, I was a finalist in the Associated Collegiate Press Photo Excellence Awards for Best Spot News.

When I'm not working, I love to explore the world with my camera collection and spend time our fur-family.
